The world press shared the following about the news: “Recently, the skeleton of a mysterious animal was excavated by workers in eastern Turkey. It is about a meter long and has ferocious fangs, extremely long hind limbs, and claws instead of hooves.
The study team contacted researchers from a nearby university who will be conducting tests on the mysterious bones. They have intact tissue on them that could allow DNA analysis. The head of the excavation team told a Turkish news agency that he hopes his findings will be useful to science.”
Iğdır University will conduct research to determine the species of the animal skeleton found by the workers during the excavation in the garden of an enterprise in the city.
Iğdır University will investigate the type of animal skeleton found in the excavation in the city. Yusuf Kıtay, the operating officer of the excavated area, said, “Controls will be made, we are also curious. I hope something interesting will come out and be useful to science.” said.
Workers excavating the yard of an old spinning mill last week found an intact skeleton of an animal about 1 meter tall, with predatory teeth. The workers, who observed that some tissues of the skeleton did not deteriorate, reported the situation to the academics at the Iğdır University Biodiversity Research and Application Center (BİYOMER).
The academics who came to the area where the excavation was made, took the skeleton, which is not known to which animal yet, and took it to the university for examination. At BİYOMER, Dr. Faculty Member Belkıs Muca Yiğit stated that they, as BİYOMER, started a study on the subject when citizens called them.
Stating that they will try to determine the species of the animal after the examination, Yiğit said, “After that, we will provide the necessary information. Afterwards, we will ensure that this skeleton is taken as museum material.” said.
Stating that the shape of the skeleton caught their attention and that’s why they reported the situation to the authorities, Kıtay said, “Especially the long hind legs caught our attention. We informed the authorities that ‘it may be an interesting species’ since its feet are not hooves but nails and have sharp teeth.
Checks will be made, we are also wondering. I hope something interesting will come out and be useful to science.” used the expressions.Yusuf Kıtay, the operating officer of the excavated area, said that the workers found an animal skeleton while they were working in an area of this facility, which has not been used for 30-40 years.
